An Indian submarine has passed through Egypt’s Suez Canal, travelling from the Mediterranean Sea en route to a military base in India. Eyewitnesses have reported tight security conditions close to the waterway. Ferries moving between the two sides of the canal and road vehicles driving across its bridges were stopped while the submarine travelled through. The 76.2-metre long vessel weighs over 2,400 tonnes.
