Several Egyptian soldiers suffered injuries early Friday after gunmen targeted three military vehicles in Rafah, a Ma’an reporter said. The gunmen detonated an explosive device near three Egyptian military vehicles. Egyptian military spokesman Arkan Ali said the Egyptian army in coordination with the police launched raids on Wednesday and Thursday in multiple villages in the northern Sinai. In a statement, the army said it detained 15 Salafist operatives including leaders who were involved in targeting security locations and police in the peninsula.
