Beirut – Georges Chahine
Security forces at Roumieh Central Prison were able to stop an escape plan by members of the Fatah al-Islam on Thursday.
According to sources, the security forces that protect the unit personnel in the prison discovered that a number of Fatah al-Islam members were planning to wear women’s veil to hide their identities, use ropes to escape from the Islamist detainees’ department and then leave normally from the main gate of the prison.
The sources said that the security forces accidentally found the items of clothing and a rope, and did not rule out that this was the same way used before in the last escape.
Lately, three Fatah al-Islam prisoners escaped from the same prison, which led to chaos and a rapid change in security strategies.
