Palestinian protesters fired a rocket into southern Israel on Tuesday, Israeli police have confirmed. The attack comes as protests continue to cause chaos across the West Bank, following the death of a Palestinian prisoner Arafat Jaradat in an Israeli jail on Saturday. The Palestinian government is alleging that Jaradat, who died in Israeli custody, was tortured to death, dismissing Israeli claims that his death was due to a heart attack. This is the first such attack by either side since an Israel-Hamas ceasefire was signed last year. The truce was brokered following the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip in November 2012, which lasted eight days and killed 161 people. According to reports, the rocket fired on Tuesday caused some damage to a road near the city of Ashkelon but no one has been was injured.
