Benghazi - Arabstoday
Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has joined celebrations in Benghazi, commemorating the second anniversary of a major battle in the uprising against former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
The day marks two years since rebel forces clashed with Gaddafi’s loyalist army.
Sarkozy arrived in Banina air base to be met by former leader of the Libyan National Council, Mustafa Abdul Jalil.
Both men then went on to the city’s Freedom Square, also visiting a new memorial celebrating the gains of Libya’s revolution.
