Tunis – Azhar Jarboui
Former Tunisian Justine Minister Bashit Tekari has been released from prison on Tuesday night. The former minister, who was part of Ben Ali’s government, was released for health reasons. He was jailed for contempt of court in the ‘Le Grand Bleu’ case.
Some have accused him of financial corruption, alleging that he paid some officials for his liberation.
Several observers have criticised the Troika’s complacency with the former regime’s rulers. They have called for the country to be free of corruption and for the suspected murderers during the revolution to be brought to justice.
The former Justice Minister officially apologised to the Tunisian people after the revolution.
Also Tekari accused the investigative team of deforming facts on corruption and bribery accusations, fabricating false accusations for him and other former officials, considering himself among the rare officials who were secretly against Ben Ali regime secretly, but he was afraid from being assassinated by the President.
Bashir Tekari was Minister of Justice for a long time before becoming Education Minister under Ben Ali’s governance.
