Leader of the National Front for Reform and former prime minister of Jordan, Ahmad Obeidat has warned the state against getting politically involved in the Syrian conflict, claiming that such a move could have negative long-term consequences. Speaking at a public event on Wednesday, Obeidat said that the government must preserve Jordan's sovereignty and cannot allow foreign powers to use its land and airspace for any operations in Syria. The former PM urged the people of Jordan to take an active interest in politics, and hold further public events to encourage debate, adding that real change, as sought by opposition movements, can only be achieved through the ballot box.
