Cairo - Mohammed Al Dawi?
Egypt’s interim Vice President Mohammed ElBaradei said he is not aiming for the presidency, despite being asked to take on the responsibility, adding that he would instead “continue to be ?the backer of the revolution,”? and that it was time for a new generation to come to power in Egypt.
ElBaradei pointed out that his relationship with army chief General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is good and denied rumours that he had threatened to resign.
He explained that the transitional authority is working on achieving justice, rather than exert revenge against the opposition and that Sisi insists he also has no intention of becoming president but is content with being an officer in the armed forces.?
ElBaradei said his comments in the interview with Washington Post newspaper had been ?altered and that he never said that the release of former president Mohammed Morsi was dependent on an end to sit-ins and protest by his supporters, adding that the issue of the release was in the hands of the judiciary.
