Jordan’s cabinet has appointed Wadah el-Hamoud as director for the governmental Administration of Syrian Refugee Affairs body, during a Wednesday parliamentary session. El-Hamoud has previously served in a host of top-ranking positions within the Jordanian government, including as chief of reform and rehabilitation centres and the official in charge of police courts. Jordan founded a Syrian Refugee Affairs body one month ago to deal with the growing displacement problem across the region, after the country’s government pledged to keep its borders with Syria open.
