Dozens of Egyptians have gathered outside the national security building in the central 6th of October City, Giza governorate, to demand the release of political prisoners. The demonstration was organised by Egyptian Islamist politician Hussam Abu al-Bukhari, and attended by opposition politicians from the Constitution Party and Socialist Popular Alliance Party. Witnesses told Arabstoday that security forces had been deployed to protect the government headquarters, with authorities fearing a repeat of last week's violence in Nasr City, west of Cairo. Protesters formed a human chain outside the security building and held banners calling for their relatives to be released. Speaking to reporters, Bukhari threatened to escalate his protests if the government did not bring an end to abuses and arbitrary arrests of activists and peaceful demonstrators.
