Cairo - Akram Ali
Egyptian Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim has met with security leaders for crisis management talks, as unrest continues to grip cities across the country.
Ibrahim reportedly claimed Egyptian security forces were “not part of the political equation” and would continue to serve the people, according to a press statement on Friday.
The Interior Ministry meanwhile said security forces would respect the right to protest according to Egyptian law during any future demonstrations.
Egypt is bracing for further unrest on Saturday, ahead of another verdict announcement for defendants embroiled in the February 2012 Port Said football massacre.
A crowd, made up of activists, civilians and even soldiers, tore down an Interior Ministry flag from the security directorate building in Port Said on Friday.
