Cairo - Akram Ali
The Egyptian army thwarted an alleged attempt to blow up a church in Rafah by “terrorists” on Monday morning, a military spokesperson announced.
Military forces also seized a vehicle carrying four sacks packed with TNT explosives, two automatic weapons, 50 live rounds and five electric detonators during the operation.
“The armed forces managed to seize two cars near the Church of Rafah, close to the Safa neighbourhood,” military spokesperson Colonel Ahmed Mohammed Ali announced via Facebook. “One of the cars managed to escape, carrying a group of masked elements.”
Colonel Ali confirmed armed forces were currently combing the area for the second car, which was reportedly carrying "terrorists."
