Egypt’s prosecution service has said that the Minister of Justice Ahmed Soliman has demanded that the former Public Prosecutor abdel-Maguid Mahmoud be investigated regarding the accusation that he received gifts and donations from the press.
The deputy chairperson of the Wasat party accused Egypt’s former public prosecutor of receiving bribes.
A judicial source told Arabstoday that the public prosecution service is currently preparing a charge accusing Mahmoud of receiving gifts from press and media institutions. The source added that the prosecution has requested that Mahmoud’s immunity be lifted so that legal measures can be taken against him.
Egypt’s former Minister of Justice Ahmed Mekki demanded a full investigation into the allegations.
