Kuwait City - Arab Today
Egypt's Defence Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said he will succumb to the Egyptian people's wishes and run in the presidential polls to take place in Egypt within weeks.
"I will not reject the demand of the Egyptian people. I will ask the Egyptians to renew their confidence through a free voting, Field Marshal Sisi told Kuwait's al-Seyassah newspaper out Thursday.
But he asked the Egyptian people to help him in this heavy burden. "We will not play with people's dreams or tell them we have a magic wand. "I will tell them let's join hands and work together to build this country of 90 million."
"Egypt has huge potentials that only need good marketing and a clear-cut plan to benefit from them. We have also to create an atmosphere that would lure more national and foreign investments," the defense minister said.
About security in Egypt, he said today is certainly better than yesterday and tomorrow will be better. What is taking place in Egypt now will not intimidate the Egyptians or undermine their will.
"We will not be affected by any protest, strike or a bomb attack. we will move forward and draw up a development plan to attract investments."
Referring to attacks on security men and bomb blasts, Sisi said this is a limited violation of security that will not get bigger but will shrink day after day.
