Cairo - Ali Ragab
Egypt’s former Secretary General of the Arab League and a leading member of the opposition National Salvation Front called on the country’s army to justify its actions during the violent crackdown on political demonstrations.
He said the military needed to answer to the international community, after a number of countries requested an emergency meeting with the UN, to discuss the crisis in Egypt.
In a tweet on his Twitter account, he said the violence between supporters of Egypt’s Islamist Muslim Brotherhood party and security forces was an opportunity to show the world that the ousting of former president Mohammed Morsi was not a military coup -but was required to restore liberal rule in the country.
