Local authorities of a number of cities in Damascus countryside closed roads leading to bakeries for fear of bombings. It also organised the process of distributing bread and made several shifts per day to avoid crowds, as well as delivering bread to homes to avoid crowds in front of bakeries. The authorities said that these procedures "come out of fear for the lives of citizens, after the Syrian government forces targeted a number of bakeries in the city of Aleppo with rockets, mortars and bombs."
