Cairo - Ahmed Khaled
Cautious calm dominated the surrounding area of a police station in the Mediterranean city of Marsa Matrouh after clashes erupted on Tuesday, as families of prisoners attempted to storm the police station to help their relatives flee.
Family members threw stones, while security forces turned to teargas to disperse the rallies.
About 40 people were injured during the clashes. A number of them have been transferred to Matrouh Hospital to receive treatment, while security forces are now taking intensive security measures to prevent any potential attempts to storm the police station again.
