The Sudanese President, Omar Bashir, returned to Khartoum Wednesday afternoon after receiving medical treatment in Saudi Arabia. An official reception was held at Khartoum airport to celebrate his return, as Bashir waved to the crowds congregated.
The first vice president of Sudan, Ali Osman Taha, headed the reception at the airport, which also included officials and popular leaders.
Bashir travelled to Saudi Arabia last week for a second surgery on his throat according to the Sudanese ambassador in Saudi Arabia.
The President\'s press adviser, Emad Syed Ahmad, said: \"President Bashir is in a good health and has returned back to continue his responsibility. He will attend the Sudanese Islamic Movement\'s Eighth Conference.\"
The President’s brother, Dr Abdullah Bashir, confirmed that the President had a successful medical travel and hailed the great keenness from Sudanese people who seeked assurance on Bashir’s health.
The Sudanese President has been advised by health officials to not make long speeches due to his throat surgery.
