Baghdad’s Governor Ali al-Tamimi said defence officials were to blame for the deterioration in security in Iraq, following a growing a number of sectarian bombings by Sunni fighters against Shiite targets. He said security officials have so far refused to meet with the regional department to discuss the issue.  He added that the situation will not improve any time soon as terrorist forces were finding new ways to launch attacks in different districts. Tamimi said it is the insurgents who are in command of security in Iraq’s cities, since they can successfully launch attacks whenever they liked. The governor called on the Secretary of the Interior Ministry, Adnan al-Asadi to coordinate with local police and formulate a strategic plan which will provide security in all the country’s major cities.  He said the government needed to pay an external contractor to install a network of surveillance cameras which will monitor any terrorist activity.
