Young and unemployed people in Algeria have threatened to launch a million-man demonstration against the government, amid growing frustration at slow implementation of key reforms in the country. Over eight thousand people joined protests on Thursday, calling for the release of 16 prisoners who are set to be prosecuted on March 26. Protests would continue to grow until the government came good on promises to provide job opportunities and employment programmes for young people, activist groups have warned. Hundreds of young people organised a major strike in Algeria on February 24, again demanding the government work harder to ease growing unemployment and economic hardship.
