Algerian Workers’ Party has condemned the foreign interference in Mali, describing the war against terrorism as a lame excuse.
Secretary-general of the party Louisa Hanoune called on the Algerian government to reaffirm its opposition to foreign interference in Mali, warning of potential repercussion on Algeria’s economy and security.
She added that Algerian people are keen to protect their national sovereignty and the Algerian army has helped maintain unity in the country. Hanoune stressed that the Algerians would not accept military interference anywhere in the world, and the current regime should be opposed to foreign military interference in Mali.
Speaking about her party's stance, Hanoune said that the Algerian Workers' Party wants to defend Algerian sovereignty and protect the area of the coast and North Africa which is being targeted by foreign powers.
Hanoune criticised the war on terror justification provided by France and USA to intervene in Mali and Afghanistan, adding that Algeria managed to eradicate terrorism without foreign interference.
