Algeria has requested the UN Security Council find a solution to criminalising ransom payments to terrorist groups. Algerian Interior Minister, Daho Ould Kablia, stressed the need to “cut off” financing resources for armed groups. Daho hopes that the council will issues a prompt decision. He called for renewed support from neighbouring countries to confront terrorist groups, particularly in the border region of Ghadames. Libyan Minister, Ashour Shoael, confirmed that the Algerian borders are controlled in a large scale operation, and that the Libyan air force had received instructions to target all terrorist sites.
