Egypt's interim president Adly Mansour said on Sunday the approval of the new constitution is a step for the future of a free and democratic Egypt. In a televised address, Mansour said high turnout in the vote showed that the Egyptian people are on the right track and would gain the fruits of the January 25 and June 30 revolutions soon. The new constitution is meant to create a legislative democratic atmosphere for building a new nation based on justice, values, equality and equal opportunities, he added. The interim president called on Egyptian political parties and groups to capitalize on the fresh democratic atmosphere by means of promoting effective and tangible programs for their grassroots and of making political differences as a springboard for consensus for the interest of the nation. Egypt's new constitution was approved by 98.1 percent of voters, with turnout of nearly 39 percent higher than in a 2012 vote. Source: KUNA
