President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed Sunday his keenness on following up periodically work progress achieved by Italian Eni company especially in Zohr gas field.
He affirmed the importance of abiding by the set timetable to begin production of Zohr field, giving directives to the Petroleum Ministry and its affiliated bodies to continue cooperation with the Italian firm and removing obstacles that might hinder developing work of the field.
These remarks came during the meeting held between Sisi and Eni´s CEO Claudio Descalzi in the presence of Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Tarek el Molla as well as a number of officials of the company.
Eni´s CEO reviewed, during the meeting, the work progress of developing Zohr gas field located in the Egyptian territorial water in the Mediterranean Sea, said the presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef.
Descalzi tackled building infrastructure and digging wells that were implemented in cooperation with a number of Egyptian companies.
He further said that the firm seeks to swiftly develop Zohr field so as to start production before the end of this year.
Descalzi reviewed also the projects implemented by Eni in Egypt, noting that the first phase of developing Nooros field in Nile Delta was finalized.
The company is keen on benefiting from the promising opportunities offered in the renewable energy sector in Egypt, he asserted.
