An Iraqi military officer and six security officials were injured following two separate explosions in Kirkuk, north of the capital, Baghdad on Wednesday. The explosive targeted a security patrol in the Debes district, northwest of Kirkuk. The injured men were taken to the nearest hospital for treatment. Security forces have imposed a tight cordon around the region. The area of Kirkuk has witnessed a state of instability in recent weeks as armed groups continue to target security forces with car bombs and explosives in the region.
