Five Iraqi soldiers, including a colonel, were killed in two separate incidents in Baghdad and Mosul on Thursday
An anonymous source from Iraq’s Interior Ministry told Arabstoday that unknown gunmen attacked the procession of Colonel Khaled Zohhdi in el-Sakara village. The incident killed Zohdi and two of his guards.
The source added that clashes are continuing in the area, which has now been cordoned off by military forces.
In a separate incident, two soldiers were killed when unknown gunmen attacked an Iraqi military checkpoint in western Baghdad. The source said attackers showered the soldiers with bullets and used silencer-equipped weapons.
