Protesters demanding the disbanding ofmilitias in therestive Libyan city of Benghazi were shot at, leaving four dead and16 wounded, dpa cited a medical official as saying Saturday.The victims were fired at overnight outside the February 17 Brigade,following an attempt by demonstrators to storm the headquarters ofthe militia group, Mohammed al-Deruqi of the Benghazi Medical Centretold the independent Solidarity Press Agency.It was not clear who shot at the protesters. Dozens of Benghazi'sresidents took to the streets Friday demanding that armed militiagroups leave the eastern city.Benghazi, the birthplace of a 2011 uprising that ousted long-timedictator Moamer Gaddafi, has seen frequent attacks by armed groups onsecurity forces and foreign interests.
