Beirut - Georges Chahine
One Palestinian was killed and three others were wounded in violent clashes on Saturday in the Ain al-Hilweh camp, east of the city of Sida, southern Lebanon. Machine guns and grenades were used until the intervention of Palestinian civilians “women and children” between the gunmen resulted in a cease-fire.
A security report said that the clashes took place between the group of Bilal Badr, which includes fighters from the Fatah al-Islam movement, and others from the Palestinian “armed struggle.”
The clashes continued until the dawn of Sunday and resulted in the death of three people including one woman.
A cease fire was called at 8am on Sunday morning, after the fighters were surprised by the intervention of hundreds of Palestinians including women and children.
