Fierce clashes erupted between Turkish border guards and a number of cigarette and fuel smugglers in Kilis Province.
The clashes erupted after smugglers attempted to illegally enter Turkey via the Syrian village of Doulmuja.
A 42-year old Turk was killed and a Syrian was critically injured at the site of the clashes.
He was carried to hospital for treatment.
