Khartoum - Abedalgoum Ashmeag
Twelve Sudanese were killed in a car crash on Sunday as they tried to escape from police in Libya following a failed attempt to enter the country illegally, Sudan’s foreign ministry said.
According to a statement from the ministry, the men were part of a larger group of around 70-80 who had left from Khartoum to cross illegally into Libya with traffickers. Five men are currently under treatment at Al-Khartoum hospital.
Sudan's foreign ministry has warned its people against travel to Libya. The Libyan government closed its border last year with Niger, Chad, Algeria and Sudan amid security tensions.
