As many as 100 persons were arrested in Matrouh on Monday after an attempt to infiltrate into Libya via the border with Egypt.

The arrested included 39 persons from Fayyoum, 31 from Minya, 19 from Assuit, six from Dakhahleia and five from Damietta.

A probe was launched into the incident.
