The World Health Organization said Thursday that there
is one suicide every 40 seconds, taking the global annual toll to
800,000, in a report citing the latest available data from 2012, according to dpa.
WHO chief Margaret Chan said governments must step up efforts to
reduce the current number of suicides.
So far, only 28 countries have set up government programmes to deal
with the issue.
