Social Affairs and Labor Minister on Saturday praised the aid provided by World Food Programme (WFP) to combat food poverty in Yemen via Social Welfare Fund (SWF) and Social Fund for Development (SFD). During her meeting with WFP representative in Yemen Bishaw Parajuli, Amat al-Razzaq Hummad underlined the need for full coordination and creating an effective partnership between the WFP and the Ministry in order to develop a mechanism to ensure a rapid response to the food poverty\'s requirements, especially in light of the recent reports that show that some 5 million children suffer from malnutrition in the country. She stressed the Government and Ministry\'s adherence to provide all facilities required to the Programme\'s activities in Yemen. Parajuli accentuated the WFP will do every effort to strengthen the partnership with the Ministry of Social Affairs to meet the requirements for food insecure families as well as developing the cooperation in the school feeding programmes through the SWF. The WFP representative said that he would meet with the SWF\'s leadership to get acquainted with the SWF-carried out programmes and assistance the WFP could offer in cooperation with SWF to provide foods aid to those in need all over the country.
