The Omani Health Ministry announced today the first recorded fatality from the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus. The ministry said a 68-year-old man, who had been suffering from many chronic diseases including diabetes, hypertension and heart faulure, died yesterday after contracting MERS. The ministry said the cause of the death was a lung failure that caused the patient’s health condition to deteriorate until he died yesterday. The ministry explained that the internationally recorded cases of the MERS, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), are 150 including 64 fatalities.
