Under patronage of Health Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah, the Eighth Annual Obstetrics and Gynecology Conference will kick off on December 2 with the participation of a galaxy of renowned specialists from across the globe. "An advanced endoscopy workshop will be held during the conference by British Laparoscopy scientist James English and German Hysteroscopy scientist Adolf Gallinat," President of the Conference and Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Jahra Hospital Sami Al-Taher said in a press conference Thursday. He added that the three-day event will tackle a wide array of key relevant topics such as fertility and genetics, andrology, uro-gynecology, micro-invasive surgery prenatal medicine, fetal surgery, obstetric complications, and the topic which everyone is talking about - Current and Future Role of stem cells in the field. Furthermore, Head of the Organizing Committee Hazem Al-Rumaih revealed that the conference will also host a debate on the Islamic view of some current obstetrics and gynecology issues such as "Investigating Mother, Fetus and Pregnancy Fate", "Gender Selection in ART" and "Stem Cell for Germ Cell and Endometrial Production". According to Al-Taher, 15 percent of Kuwaitis face conceiving and miscarriage problems. Al-Rumaih estimated that male infertility is the cause of up to 35 percent these cases, followed by ovulation problems with about 30 percent, female tube blockages 20-25 percent, then womb benign tumors by 20 percent and non-medical causes, such as obesity, about 5-10 percent
