Specialized studies indicated a remarkable increase in the number people with diabetes in Egypt, which reaches now 7.5 million persons, placing it on the list of the top ten countries regarding numbers of diabetic patients in the Middle East and North Africa region, according to participants in a scientific conference on children with diabetes held Tuesday in Cairo. \"Numbers of children suffering from type 1 diabetes is increasingly growing, especially among younger one\", conference chairperson Dr. Mona Salem said. She cited a nationwide study that showed that type 1 diabetes infection rate among kids is almost 3.5 percent in Egypt.
