Medea - APS
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Abdelouahab Nouri gave Monday, in Medea, instructions to the concerned authorities to increase the number of security roadblocks at the roads leading to the country’s western region, so that to prevent the spread of the foot-and-mouth disease.
“Preventing the spread of this disease depends, mainly, on the vigilance of the security services and their strict enforcement of the law against the offenders of the issued instructions, to contain foot-and-mouth disease, including the banning of the movement of the livestock,” said Nouri in a statement to the press on the sidelines of his inspection visit to Medea.
Considering the province of Medea as a “link between the east and west of the country,” the minister, who expressed his concern about the spread of this disease, insisted on the need to “increase the number of checkpoints at the level of trunk road 40, linking Medea to the west of Algeria.”
Underlining the continuation of the vaccination operation of the livestock, Nouri underlined the purchase “in the next few days” of new quantities of vaccines for the cattle breeders, pointing out that the “control of this diseases would not have been possible without taking preventive measures at the right time.”
