Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform Abdelmalek Boudiaf went Friday morning to Ben Aknoun Hospital in Algiers to enquire about those injured in the 5.6-magnitude earthquake that hit the capital and its outskirts early Friday morning.
Five of the 388 injured have been kept under observation at Ben Aknoun Hospital, where they will receive the necessary medical care, said earlier the emergency committee set up at the Health Ministry.
"All the necessary means have been mobilized to provide the required health care to the injured," the source added.
The 5.6-magnitude quake hit the capital at 5.11 a.m. The epicentre was located 19 km north east Bologhine.
The quake was also felt in the provinces of Tipasa, Blida, Boumerdes and Tizi-Ouzou.
