Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, Ali Javed, handing over a plaque to Barrister Amjad Malik, Chairman

Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, Ali Javed, welcomed earlier today, Barrister Amjad Malik, Chairman Board of Governors (BoG), Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) who is on a working visit to the Sultanate Oman.

Malik’s engagements started with a guided tour of Mission’s Consular Services Hall and interaction with visitors. He was then accorded a briefing on rising trajectory of bilateral relations and on services and contributions rendered by Pakistani community across Oman.

Malik presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Stephen Grant, an artist, for his contributions through reflection of Pakistani historical heritage and culture in promotion of peace and friendship.

Later, the ambassador hosted a reception in honour of the visiting dignitary which included a interactive session with prominent Pakistanis.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif “accords highest priority to the welfare of overseas Pakistanis”. His government is strategising in making Pakistani expatriates stakeholders in state policy formulation process. The prime minister has decreed that the dividends and opportunities from the economic turnaround in Pakistan are shared with overseas Pakistanis towards the betterment of entire country.

Malik’s visit thus dovetails the reinvigorated initiative from the government which recently reconstituted the BoG of Overseas Foundation by making amendments in the relevant laws. Malik is the first elected chairman of OPFs’ Board of Governors and is himself on Overseas Pakistan based in UK. Malik’s visit to Oman is part of outreach to GCC. He has already undertaken visits across Europe and shall also lead a delegation to the U.S.
