Abdullah bin Zayed meets Irish Foreign Minister

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, yesterday met with Charles Flanagan, the Republic of Ireland's Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral cooperation and ways of boosting it in various fields, as well as a number of regional and international issues of common concern.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah commended the joint strategic relations between the UAE and Ireland, expressing hope that the bilateral relations would be further developed.

Mr. Flanagan welcomed the visit of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and his accompanying delegation, stressing the well-established relations between the UAE and Ireland.

Sheikh Abdullah, accompanied by Minister Flanagan and Dr. Ahmad bin Abdulla Humaid Belhoul AlFalasi, UAE Minister of State for Higher Education, visited Trinity College Dublin, which was founded in 1592 and is the oldest university in Ireland.

He also visited the Trinity College Library, one of the largest libraries in Europe, with more than 6 million printed volumes and collections of journals, manuscripts, maps, and music books, that represent 400 years of academic progress. While at the library, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah viewed the Book of Kells, widely regarded as Ireland's finest national treasure.

The visit was also attended by Dr. Ahmad bin Abdulla Humaid Belhoul AlFalasi, Minister of State for Higher Education, and Dr. Saeed Mohammed Ali Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland.
