Two students at the University of Bahrain (UoB) have developed a smartphone/android application to pinpoints traffic congestions on the Kingdom of Bahrain roads, harnessing the Global Positioning System (GPS) emitted signals on a mobile phone. The two UoB students nicknamed their project (The Road Traffic Analyzer). The project was conceived from the notion that traffic congestions occur on various streets and may lead to further bottlenecks. Ali Darwish and Abdullah Khalifa both students at the Computer Science Department in UoB explained the objective of this project intended to create an application for analyzing traffic movement at locations where congestions occur, garner lots of information in this respect from various sources in order to determine how it (the Road Traffic Analyzer) works. This project was prepared by both students as part of their graduation requirements from the Faculty of Informatics for the academic year 2012/2013.
