At Milan Fashion Week

Milan fashion designers launched six days of fall-winter fashion previews Wednesday, as the long-accepted runway format undergoes challenges like never before.
Brands like Gucci and Bottega Veneta sat out last month’s menswear previews to combine their efforts this round, while some labels, like Roberto Cavalli, were taking breaks during creative transitions.
However, all eyes were fixed on Dutch-Palestinian model Gigi Hadid as she walked for designer Alberta Ferretti’s Autumn/Winter 2018 collection on Wednesday and for Max Mara’s new collection on Thursday. Marking a first for the house, Italian label Max Mara called upon the services of hijab-wearing model Halima Aden to unveil its latest collection.
Aden, who was recently selected by Kanye West to model in his show in New York earlier this month took to the catwalk alongside Gigi. Aden, 19, made her Milan Fashion Week debut on Wednesday when she modelled for Alberta Feretti.
The Milan Fashion Week will see the Hadid sisters, Gigi and Bella Hadid, strut down the catwalk for renowned fashion houses. The supermodels have seen their careers go from strength to strength in recent weeks — having made a number of high-profile appearances, such as Versus Versace and Anna Sui, in both London and New York.
Before walking the fashion runway, Gigi toured the city with her younger sister in matching Gothic themes. They were seen stepping out of their Milan hotel in black-and-white coordinates.
One of the model’s most memorable moments last year also occurred while leaving the Max Mara autumn/winter 2016 runway show in Milan, when she was grabbed by Ukranian celebrity prankster Vitalii Sediuk. After the incident, Gigi had tweeted: “How dare that idiot thinks he has the right to manhandle a complete stranger. He ran quick tho....”
