Heatwave

The Kingdom on Thursday remains under the impact of the heatwave that brought hot and dry conditions across the country and pushing daytime temperatures to 39 degrees in the capital and 42 in the Gulf of Aqaba, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

Mercury levels are forecast to cool down at night dropping to 22 degrees in the capital and sliding to 29 degrees in Aqaba, the JMD said.

The heatwave, which started affecting the country earlier this week is expected to taper off on Friday, when mercury levels will drop and normal summer conditions prevail in much parts of the country, the JMD added.

Normal summer conditions will continue to prevail on Saturday in the hilly areas, while it while be relatively hot in Amman and hot in other parts of the Kingdom, it said further.
