The Iraqi forces have started an offensive in southern Kirkuk city, Sky News channel reported on Friday.

The channel did not mention further details about the military operation.

On Tuesday, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al Abadi described as "dangerous" Kurdistan's militarization of Kirkuk.
