
Jordan on Saturday said it backs a temporary ceasefire announced in southern Syria today and voiced hope that all warring parties abide by the agreement.
State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesman Muhammad al-Momani said the Kingdom supports all efforts and initiatives designed at brining about a comprehensive ceasefire on all Syrian territory.
He said today’s 48-hour ceasefire is important in order to enable the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those in need. Al-Momani renewed Jordan’s call for working with the Geneva track to find out a political solution that wins the consensus of all components of the Syrian people and safeguard their country’s territorial integrity.
