Airstrikes leave 29 civilians dead in Raqqa
Cairo - Mena

Twenty nine civilians were killed in airstrikes carried out by the US-led international coalition on Daesh-controlled areas in Raqqa city over the past 24 hours, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Syrian Observatory stated that the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) took control of large areas south of Raqqa following violent clashes with Daesh militants.
The SDF now controls half of the city, 50 days after the ground offensive to liberate the city was launched.
Since this month's recapture of Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city, from Daesh, Raqqa has become the main focus of the fight against the militants. The battle to win back control of Mosul took nearly nine months.
Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory also said that government forces fired a shell on Jesreen area in Rif Dimashq, with no casualties reported.
In Ein Tarma of Eastern Ghouta, clashes erupted for a second time in the past five days between government and armed opposition forces, the Syrian Observatory reported.
