Twenty-five people were killed in clashes between Syrian regime forces and People's Protection Units (YPG) in the northeastern city of al Hasakah.

Sixteen persons, including six children and women, as well as four Kurdish militants were killed by the regime shelling and clashes around al Hasakah.

Five regime troops were killed in the clashes and 10 were held captive.

On Thursday, the Syrian regime jets bombed Kurdish-held areas of al Hasakah for the first time in the five-year-old war.

"Every hand spattered with the blood of our people will be held to account through all possible and available means," YPG spokesman Redur Xelil said earlier.
