Also, 115 others were injured in the attack which hit a busy street in the Karrada district of Baghdad, the sources added.
The suicide bombing was carried out by a parked car bomb in central Karrada neighbourhood, Sky News quoted spokesman for Baghdad operations command as saying.
A second bomb also exploded near popular Shalal market in Sha'ab district in northern Baghdad, killing six people and injuring 12 others.
