Islamabad - KUNA

At least six suspected militants were killed in a US drone strike in Waziristan Agency of northern tribal belt of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan on Wednesday.
According to media reports, the unmanned aircraft fired two missiles hitting a vehicle and a compound in Dargah Mandi village in North Waziristan, around 10 kilometres (six miles) west of the main town of Miranshah. Those killed include four Uzbek militants, said reports, noting that the death toll of the strike is feared to rise. The suspected militants parked their vehicle outside a compound and the air strike completely destroyed the both. The first US drone strike in Pakistan this year came a few days after a deadly attack on an airport of southern Pakistani city Karachi on Sunday that ended late Monday morning, killing 38 people including the ten attackers. North Waziristan is one the seven semi autonomous tribal agencies of Pakistan governed by tribal laws and facing militants' insurgency against the state for last seven years. Around 60,000 residents have fled North Waziristan since late May fearing a long-awaited ground offensive could be imminent. The last drone attack on Pakistani soil occurred on December 25, 2013, killing three suspected militants.
