A blast killed one person and wounded eleven others in Quetta city of southwestern Balochistan province of Pakistan on Sunday, said police.
According to initial police report, the explosion occurred in Quetta's Kandhari market area at a time when the market was jam-packed with Eid shoppers. The unknown miscreants planted the explosive material in a drain outside a shoe shop in the market. A senior police official, SSP Investigation, Imtiaz Gorya told media that the bomb was carrying one-pound explosive material that was detonated through a time device at the rush hours.
The security forces and rescue teams immediately reached the site of the incident. The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment where an emergency was imposed. The security forces cordoned off the area and a search operation went underway. Fear and panic gripped the area after the loud blast that also smashed the glasses of shops located in the commercial hub of Quetta, said local media.
